Beauty Basics at Face Value

BEAUTY BASICS AT FACE VALUE

Last year, more than eight-point-seven-million people underwent cosmetic procedures to enhance what nature gave them, or didn’t. But experts tell us that Americans may be jumping into invasive procedures too quickly.

Despite the media coverage of makeover reality shows, the majority of Americans are not looking for extreme transformations. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, most of us want to look better, naturally, with 68-percent preferring a subtle change. And experts agree that looking your best could be accomplished at home for considerably less.

Dr. Linda Franks, a leader in the specialized skin care frontier, says “To get that timeless, healthy look you need to start with an appropriate skincare regime. Taking good care of your skin can stave off fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and even dry skin.”

Where to begin? At the sink! Doctors say whatever your skin type, the key is to cleanse it gently. Avoid hot water and use lukewarm instead, to prevent over-drying. And throw in the towel - traditional washcloths are too abrasive for the face, so use your hands and fingers.

Sixty-eight-percent of women claim to have sensitive skin which means dry, tight, chapped or easily irritated skin. Dr. Franks advises moisturizing regularly and avoiding harsh cleansers with ingredients such as fragrances, dyes and preservatives because sensitive skin is easily damaged and takes longer to recover.

If your skin is dry and easily irritated, don’t wash more than once a day. You may risk stripping the skin of its natural oils. Dr. Franks recommends looking for non-irritating cleansing washes that are soap-free, moisturizers that are light, oil-free, and water-based to help maintain the skin’s natural barrier. Another tipmake sure to choose a facial moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15, which protects against both UVB and UVA rays.

Skin sensitivity may also result from the third most common, non-surgical skincare procedure known as Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a quick and easy, non-invasive procedure that helps to reveal healthier-looking skin by sweeping away dead skin cells. Dr. Franks reveals that, following the treatment, the best way to avoid irritation is by opting for an ultra-gentle cleanser and moisturizer.

A new clinical study shows that PURPOSE gentle cleansing wash and dual treatment moisture lotion with spf 15 are compatible with this procedure.

How else can you obtain optimal skin health? Here are some other healthy basics to keep your skin looking its best:

Dr. Franks says, “Exercise opens up blood vessels to make skin look healthy and youthful. It’s so important for healthy skin.” Regular cardiovascular exercise increases blood flow to the skin which assists in collagen production. Maintaining muscle mass through exercise can also help anchor and support skin, keeping it taut.
And drink up! At least eight, eight-ounce glasses of water a day are crucial for optimal skin hydration.

So before you sign on for an extreme and expensive makeover, just think back on some simple, beauty basics! You just might like what you see!

Home Security: Exterior and Interior Lighting

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 3:49 am

Home Security Exterior and Interior Lighting

It is a well-known fact, that satisfactory lighting is a very
valuable deterrent to crime. Whatever lighting might help reduce
your risk of becoming a victim, the right lights, utilized
properly will be the effective deterrent to burglars and other
intruders and improve your home security.

Exterior: Outside lights are critically important, especially
near doorways and at the rear of your residence, where break-ins
typically occur. All round security lighting that is set-up high
out of reach, and is tamper proof, will greatly improve your
home security and help to protect your home. Lighting in
carports and garages is critical. An automatic garage opener is
the best choice. All the best garage door opener fitted today
use a light that operates when the opener is activated, lighting
the garage interior. In carports, it’s best to leave a light on
permanently, have a light on a timer, or use a motion sensor to
activate the light.

It is best to use a motion detector on all exterior lights that
are not left switched on. The principal benefit of this for home
security, especially in the backyard, is that the light warns
you that someone is in your yard. When there can be some problem
that dogs, cats, or even birds will trigger off the sensor and
cause the lights to come on, if you set the sensitivity of the
sensor right this will not be a issue. In the front yard, any
type of lighting will be efficient, but make sure that the
lighting design covers the entire front and sides of the home.
Sensors can be utilized however they will be prone to “false
alarms” induced by things like people walking down the sidewalk,
or also kids playing.

Inside: Whenever you go out for the evening, I suppose that like
most people you leave a light on, the Police call these lights
“burglar beacons”. A burglar beacon is a single light that is
left on so you do not return to a dark home when you get back.

Regrettably these lights are a sign for the burglar that you are
out. When you go out for the evening or away on holiday make
certain several lights are left on, in different parts of the
home, and furthermore a radio, put them on timers, from the
exterior your house should look as if someone is home at all
times to improve your home security.

That’s it for this time; in the next article we will look at
sorting out the doors on your home.

The Ever Anticipated Feat Of Walking

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 11:55 am

We make such a big deal out of when a baby takes his first
steps. In fact, the age at which your child took his first steps
will be ingrained in your Mommy memory forever, just like your
child’s birth weight and time. Personally, I think walking is a
bit overrated, since you can’t manage to keep them out of
trouble ever again once they start, but here are some things you
might want to know, anyway.

For some reason, everyone seems to think that a baby should be
walking by his first birthday, but the fact is that most babies
don’t walk until after this time. There are a few who walk as
early as nine months of age, but a great many who don’t take
their first steps until fifteen months. And, if your child is a
late walker, it has absolutely no bearing on his intelligence.

The age at which a baby walks is often genetic. Walking very
early or very late often runs in the family. My husband walked
at nine months, and I walked at ten months, so we were unlucky
enough to have a daughter who also walked at ten months. She was
very petite, so she looked like the world’s tiniest walking
human. She also scaled the kitchen counters before she was a
year old, so you can see what I mean by “unlucky”.

When your baby walks is also often related to his size. Babies
with short legs usually walk sooner than those with long legs (a
balance issue) and thinner babies usually walk sooner than their
more plump counterparts.

Pushing your baby to walk is not a good idea, but providing him
the opportunity to learn is critical. If you force your child to
endure daily practice sessions, he may just rebel and refuse to
walk for quite a while. On the other hand, if you keep him in
swing or playpen all day, he’ll never have the opportunity to
try out his skills. Give him some supervised time on the floor,
and he’ll figure the rest out with or without your help.

If, by chance, your child is not walking by the age of eighteen
months, it is best to have him checked out by a doctor. There is
not necessarily anything wrong, but most babies are walking by
this age, so have him examined as a precaution. But, don’t be
too eager, because once he starts walking, all the rules change.
Someone, though I don’t remember who, once said, - “We spend the
first two years of our children’s lives teaching them to walk
and talk, and then the next sixteen telling them to sit down and
shut up.” It’s so true.

Baby Products Safety Tips

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 8:40 pm

Sometimes when you are out there looking for products and
accessories for your baby you may find a huge amount of
different options. This may be a little confusing (well, a lot
if you are a first-time mom), so here are three small but useful
tips to help you get the product you are looking for keeping
your baby’s safety at the same time.

Tip number one: Toys. Every kid likes toys, and babies are not
the exception. Watching them play is a joy, but be careful.
Avoid giving your baby toys that may have loose parts, or parts
that are small enough to be swallowed. Also look for toys that
can resist chewing without losing any paint portions. This way
you will avoid intoxication risks; keep your baby away from toys
that have strings or that are not unbreakable.

Tip number two: Gates Baby gates are used to prevent toddlers to
go into an area of your home that may not be totally safe, such
as the kitchen. Buy those gates that are one piece and attach
themselves to the door frame. Do not use accordion gates, for
they have been responsible of a lot of accidents (they are not
manufactured anymore, but there may be a lot of them still
available on shops). Pay attention to those gates placed on top
of the stairs, make sure that is no possible way for your baby
to climb (that includes getting rid of any large toy that may be
used to climb).

Tip number three: Walkers. There is only one thing to say about
walkers: avoid them. It was medically proved that they do not
improve your baby ability to walk, and can be very dangerous. A
baby in a walker may acquire enough speed and momentum to break
through a gate and fall from the top of the stairs, or he may
walk directly into a very dangerous place, such as the street if
you happen to leave the door opened. Besides any tip I may give
you, there is an obligation you have as a parent: never leave a
baby without adult supervision, even for a little time.
Remember, accidents happen in less than one second, but they are
remembered for a lifetime.

Beat Your Online Poker Opponent

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 1:12 pm

Playing and winning online poker is a science. It is both a
skill and an art of mastering things that most players take for
granted.

If you are signing up for an online poker game, keep in mind
never to choose the “any game at this limit” option. By choosing
this, you are also hindering your capacity to take control of
your position on every sign up list. There are options that give
you the privilege of having the top position by winning and
giving up the place by quitting and at the same time you could
still rejoin and have you name at the bottom of the list.

Always look for a card room that fits your style. This way you
always get the upper hand. If luck strikes in and you get on a
bad round, look around the page for another table.

Playing two games at the same time seems a nice idea. It seems
that by doing this, you could double your money in one playing
hour. This could be true for some players, but remember, it
happens for a few and not for everybody. Besides, playing two
games at a time would definitely lay down your small blind more
and you sure are most likely to tilt. Keep yourself focused on
one game. This way you could have the upper hand especially if
you’re playing a major, drawn-out pot. Playing one game at a
time also helps you play straightforwardly with only one
opponent to concentrate on.

There is online software that has proved to be marvelous.
However, there are minor glitches that you need to stay away
from. This is the “in-turn” button. This button allows the
player to act on hand before your actual turn and allows him to
go back trying on other moves. But there may be instances that
the internet connection may not be at their best. There may be a
time that while clicking the “check in-turn button,” the action
may already be on you. What will happen is that the “call”
button might be popping out on your screen in the place where
you are supposed to click the “check” button.

In poker, the only sure way of winning is by showing down the
best hand. This is true not only for casinos but for online as
well. However, there a number of reasonable ways a smart player
could increase his chances of winning. The sure way of acquiring
winning poker skills is by checking out how players deal with
their games and keeping in mind the right moves.

Tips On Creating unique-scrapbook-titles For Your Scrapbook Pages

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 5:23 pm

Scrapbooking has become extremely popular and the ideas for
making yours unique are virtually endless. The first step in
creating your scrapbook pages is to organize your photos and
journal notes so that you can create your pages in a
chronological order.

After you have all the necessary items in place, it is time to
create a title for your scrapbook and the individual pages.

Titles for your scrapbook do not need to be poetic works of art,
just something that will give an overall picture of the items
that are to be included.

Scrapbooks that revolve around children and family are among the
more popular themes.

In creating titles, you can choose humorous phrases, sentimental
thoughts, or denote the special occasion in which the scrapbook
is based.

The date and place of a birthday or anniversary party can be
used in your titles as can the name and date of birth of the
person in which the scrapbook is dedicated.

Company logos, family crests, and the names of teams or groups
can be incorporated into your title as well.

In addition to finding the exact words you wish to use in your
titles, be creative in the way you put these words in your
scrapbook.

You could use acrylic paints to make your letters, print out
building block type letters from your computer, or cut
individual letters in different shapes and colors from magazines
and newspapers and then glue or tape them to your scrapbook in a
random or abstract fashion.

The titles of your scrapbook pages can be as colorful or as
unique as your imagination allows.

Fish Hobbies

Filed under: Hall Of Lifestyle — admin @ 7:34 pm

Fish tanks and aquariums are a popular hobby for people of all
ages. People can sit and stare at fish for hours. I remember
when I received my first fish tank. It was the most exciting
thing of my life. I had never had fish before and did not even
think about getting any. One day, however, I was down at the
local pet shop and they had a contest or drawing where the
winner would receive a free fish tank. I had never one a drawing
like that before, and did not anticipate winning, nor did I
think they were that legitimate or that I would have much of a
chance of ever winning anything, but signed up anyway, even as a
little boy.

One day a random phone call came and I answered the phone. It
was the pet shop! They told me that I had won the fish tank! I
could not believe. Nothing this exciting had ever happened to
me. I was jumping up and down around the house and told my mom
we had to go get it right then. We also bought some gold fish
and other fish to put in the fish tank. I could sit and stare at
them for hours. A hobby
is a recreational activity outside of work or one’s career. What
better hobbies are
there then ones you could do for hours and still enjoy them? I
raised my fish for a couple months, but had to learn how to take
care of them. Eventually my fish all died and one of my friends
was playing with a bee-bee gun in my room one day and
accidentally shot the tank. But, it was fun while it lasted.

Later in college, one of my friends had a huge fish tank in her
apartment, with several piranhas. She invited us over to watch
her feed her piranhas one day. She bought a bag of about 20 live
gold fish to feed to her piranhas. All I can say is, “it was
awesome!” We sat there for an hour or more, all of us, like
watching TV, but staring at this fish tank as the piranhas
attacked and devoured the gold fish. As soon as she dumped the
fish into the tank, it went wild. The piranhas just began
tearing the goldfish apart. It was one of those moments in life
where you are glad that you are not a goldfish, but a human
participating in a hobby of feeding the goldfish to the
piranhas.

One of my friend’s little brothers got a new fish tank and some
fish while we were in high school. I am sure he could sit there
and stare at them for hours, too, just like everyone else. The
reason I am telling about him though, is because he named all of
his fish “Marcus” - every one of them. Anyway, I thought that
was funny, so I wanted to write it.

My family has some fish right now. They have a fish tank and a
bunch of goldfish. Their fish have lived for a long time, now,
and the goldfish are getting huge. The tank is dirty right now,
though. A couple weeks ago they brought over a friend’s
“cleaning fish” to eat all of the dirty muck in the tank. It
only took a few days for the fish to eat all of the muck and
make the tank look as good as new. Too bad we cannot have some
sort of cleaning animal around the house that would clean up
like that. It would sure save a lot of trouble, but I guess for
now we will have to settle with the online hobby store and
more.
