Bread machines or bread makers are fast becoming a small appliance used almost as much as the microwave oven. And why not? The smell and taste of freshly baked bread is hard to resist, let alone very nutritious for you. These machines can be considered another of the few miracle kitchen appliances to make our cooking and baking lives more enjoyable. Finding bread machines online has never been more easier, except maybe which one to choose for your families needs. Here are some basic tips in finding the right one for you.
Most store bought bread these days comes in one and a half to two pound loafs, so the first tip is look for a bread machine with a two pound capacity. There really isn’t a good reason to make bread size less than a two pound loaf. Also it is nice to have a bread maker with at least 8 different settings. Some of your best choices for settings are: Basic, Whole Wheat, French, Sweet and Express bake.
Bread machines with a view window allows one to monitor the bread baking without raising the lid, saving energy and time. Make sure the loaf pan is non-stick coated for easy cleaning. Most bread makers today come with non-stick loaf pans but there are a few that still don’t. Another great feature to have is the additional ingredients beeper, which comes in handy for adding fruit and more thru out the bread cycle.
Whether for once a week bread making to everyday use the bread machine has become a part of the modern kitchen. Make sure you compare different models online to find the perfect one for your family.

California is well known for first-class wine and wineries. While they do not have as much romance and mystery as their European counterparts do, they, however, have a vibrance and body to them that is hard to deny.
California, with over 200 days of sunshine and a very dependable growing season, is ideal for cultivating grapes and setting up wineries.
For any wine connoisseur, a trip to California - both to witness winemaking and to engage in wine tasting - is a once-in-a-year, if not once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
If your goal is to visit California for this purpose, and to see the yearly festivals, the harvesting and processing events, then a tour of the California wineries is sure to delight you. Here are a few tips to help you make the most out of a trip to these wineries.
1. Plan ahead. You will need a clear plan on which geographical areas that have been designated for viniculture - to visit since there are so many. Luckily most of them are bunched together by region right next to urban and natural settings. Choose a region that suits you and map out the areas that you would like to visit.
You could also visit websites or contact trade bureaus and winery organizations for a list of wineries to visit and for upcoming special events.
2. Make reservations. Some wineries offer tasting by appointment only, so you will want to call ahead of time to let them know. Also make travel and accommodations before hand because this period will generally be a busy one for them. Limit your visits to, at the most, three wineries per day since there is so much to do and so much to see. Some visitors make the mistake of trying to squeeze too much into one day, only to find out that travel to and from regions can be a terribly long affair. You will also want to allow for time to tour the wineries and participate in annual events. That’s going to be a lot of things going on at the same time, so make sure you accommodate that into your schedule.
3. Study your destinations carefully. In order to make the most out of a visit, try to know as much as you can about the winery you are visiting. Having a designated driver helps when touring the California area. You will also have to consider using spit buckets and share tasting as needed.

Here are two **Must Try** Mexican recipes! They are HOT, tasty
and so easy! Chiles Rellenos Meatballs
- 12 small potatoes, or 2 large baking potatoes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground
beef
- 1/2 pound Anaheim chili peppers
- 1/2 cup
yellow onions — minced
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon
salt
- black pepper — to taste
- garlic salt –
to taste
*Anaheim chilies, roasted, peeled and diced.
Peel and boil potatoes until just tender. Let potatoes cool. In
a large bowl break up potatoes to make a lumpy mixture, do not
mash. Saute ground beef in 2 tablespoons vegetable oil until
browned, drain well. Add beef to potatoes then add chiles,
chopped onion and egg yolks.
Add seasonings (salt, pepper, and garlic salt). Mix and form
into egg-shaped balls about 1-1/2 inches long. Dip each ball in
egg whites (beaten slightly) then roll in flour. At medium heat,
cook in vegetable oil about 1/4-inch deep. Brown well, then
drain on paper towels. Serve hot, at room temperature, or
refrigerate and reheat at serving time.
Note: Both Mexican Recipes yields between 4 to 6 servings.
**Our** Family Secret Salsa
(shhhttt… It’s one of my secret Mexican recipes)
- Tomatoes — quartered
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 medium yellow onion — coarse chop
- 3
tablespoons lime juice
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- salt
– to taste
- 1 cup cilantro — chopped
- 6 whole
jalapeno peppers, fresh — to taste
- 4 whole habaneros
peppers, fresh — optional
Fill blender with tomatoes, run at lowest setting until no large
chunks are left. Add remainder of ingredients and repeat running
blender until no large chunks are left. Sample and add items to
taste as necessary.
If you’re not sure how something will affect you in the quantity
given, use the smallest unit of it at first, then progressively
add more until you are satisfied. This is really important with
the habaneros. The salsa will be at its hottest right after you
make it, but will cool down the longer it sets.
