Crystals, as we know them in their industrial applications were discovered in the 17th century. They are traditionally hand blown. Crystals are manufactured through the same process as that of glass forming; the only difference is that instead of soda ash, lead oxide is used. For glass to be considered crystal, it must be at least 10 % lead. The result is a heavier, clearer and more lustrous glass-like substance. It can be cut to take many shapes and forms — making it ideal for many applications, including fashion accessories.
The quality of crystals is judged by the pitch of the “ping” or the sound that is produced when you strike the crystal with a flick of the finger or a light instrument. The higher the pitch of the sound it produces, the greater is the quality of the crystal.
There are many uses or applications for crystals. Fro example, crystals are used in transistors. In the jewelry business, there are 200 known kinds that are used. They are also used in the watch industry. The face of the watch or its dial cover is technically known as the “crystal,” rightly so because it is made of crystal.
There are three types or kinds of crystal used as covers for watch dials. The first is the cheapest kind and is used in most common watches. This is the acrylic crystal- that resembles the characteristics of plastic. But like plastic, it gets scratched easily. The second kind is the mineral crystal, which is harder than the acrylic crystal and therefore more resistant to scratches too. It is made from heat treating many kinds of elements. The heat enforces the hardness of the material. The most expensive of the three watch faces is the sapphire crystal. It prevents scratches 20 times better than the acrylic crystals and three times better than the sapphire crystals.

White metals such as silver and palladium mixed with gold produces an alloy known as white gold. As with gold, white gold can be found in any carat measurement up to 21 carats. Basically, the amount of gold is the same but the alloy is different. White gold was originally developed as a substitute for platinum.
Traditionally nickel was used in white gold. However, nickel is no longer used as the studies found that nickel can cause reactions with some people. Initially, white gold rings are electro-plated with another white metal called Rhodium, a metal very much similar to platinum, when they are new. This makes the white gold look whiter since the original color of white metal is slightly gray. This process is called rhodium plating. To keep a white gold ring looking new, it should be re-rhodium plated approximately each 12 to 18 months.
White gold men’s wedding bands are increasingly popular as they are often used to enhance diamonds and other gemstones. However, it is suggested to check with the retailer that the alloy is nickel-free.
Since the white metal is an alloy, it is very hard and durable. Hence it is preferred in the wedding bands by a number of men presently. However, there is an equal demand for cheaper alternatives to white gold than the palladium whites which are nickel-free. Many new alloys in the current market rely on manganese additions as the main whitener. Some of these are palladium-free while others are low palladium alloys. Chromium and iron can also be used as whiteners. However, they tend to be hard and so this makes it more difficult to process. However, most of these alloys are not a good white color and so require rhodium plating, and many suffer cracking problems and tarnishing.

Getting best Satellite TV deal has never been easier with the online facility available at the hit of your fingertips. Why take pain visiting personally to the Satellite TV stores wasting a lot of time and energy when you can get all sorts of information relating to satellite TV deals right on your computer screen in the comfort of your home.
And if you were still unmoved, the avalanche of discounts, freebies and gifts that are given for online deal would definitely rock you. The online transaction cut down operating expenses drastically and the retailers’ pass on this benefit to their consumers for remaining one up against their rivals. So what is holding you to experience the unique combination of entertainment and the technology and surprisingly at the price that you would jump for joy.
Competition Is Here To Stay And So Are The Benefits
There is another good news for the new entrants. Satellite TV companies like Dish Network and DirecTV will even go to the extent of giving the satellite deal at free of cost. If the word `free’ makes you cynical, you are not wrong yet not right too.
What does it mean? We all know people are in business to make money and not just to have your `thank you’. But do not forget getting a customer entails some expenses, which companies incur in the form of advertisement and sales promotions etc. You might get equipments and other services absolutely free of cost but in return you might have to take full year subscription. This is a win-win situation. Isn’t it?
Besides the subscription charges, there are various other factors which should be detailed into before zeroing on any one Satellite TV provider like the number of channels, quality of sound and picture reception, availability of any specific channel, equipment availability, customer care service etc.
Before analyzing these factors one by one, you might find it a Herculean task to choose two or three for comparisons amidst so many satellite TV providers competing with each other. Just to ease down your problem, we suggest you could limit your research to the two largest satellite TV providers namely Dish Network and Direct TV.
First you need to have required equipment installed at your premises. Though you are free to choose equipment from wherever you like, but some Satellite TV providers like Dish Network insists for their own equipment. The reason behind the logic is simple. They want the entire process to go trouble-free without going into blame game. DirecTV however gives you full freedom for choosing equipment.
You get sales promotion benefits from Disk Network and DirecTV from time to time but in their own style. While you receive some premium channels for a few months as a free gift from DirecTV, Dish Network gives you credit of 2-3 months subscription.
If you are too crazy about the quality of picture and sound, go for HD TV and the best choice is Dish Network as they are the one who invented it though both companies provide around 8-18 channels for HD TV. The competition is neck to neck, literally.
Dish Network that boasts of another feature is recording facility that makes sure you do not lose your favorite program missing out due to time constraint. DirecTV is working towards providing high-speed Internet at an affordable price through its mega project SPACEWAY.
There are over 150 channels that will give you fulsome entertainment and here choice of either of these two does not make any difference. But if you are looking for some specific channels like sports channels or local channels put your finger on DirecTV without thinking twice. However, Dish Network is making inroads in the heart of US audience with its regional channels like Bridge TV or movie channels and news channels that will keep you informed of the latest all the time.
In nutshell we would say that fierce competition has made the Satellite TV entertainment quite affordable. As one tries to outsmart other with new marketing policy, the other evens with its own and the process of qualitative improvement of the services keep go on and the customer is set to sit at the top.

Is it easier to have a bunch of people that are brand new to a team, or one that you mould from those you inherit?
In my business life I only had the latter. An existing group of employees, in each business who I had to work with, from each new day one. Never a new set that I could grow for myself.
There are different challenges in each case.
With an existing team you have to challenge and change ideas and behaviours set in their ways, unchallenged, sometimes for years. You run the risk that they have had poor experiences of what good quality performance is - or, as they say, what ‘good looks like’. This may not be good at all - not necessarily their fault though as no-one showed them differently!
In every business management I had, the outgoing manager was either leaving the business, retiring or being demoted. In one store I managed I was the first manager to be promoted out of there since the war!
That meant that whilst I had the numbers in place with some experience, it was quite a challenge to ensure that they came on board quickly, with what my own ideas of good performance and business delivery were.
Like a new football manager, I had to gradually change the personnel until they fit the team I wanted, with the exception of those who were prepared to change and develop. However, there were rare opportunities to transfer anyone out and definitely not for a fee. Occasionally someone might seriously transgress (like the supervisor who, I found out, regularly sent her staff out to the supermarket to do her weekly food shop for her - in business time - I demoted her to the ranks and she never showed up again!).
In developing a new team from scratch, the challenges are still significant. Their skills and understanding of organisational processes can be lacking, especially if new recruits to the organisation. Yet these individuals aren’t tarnished with poor behaviours, inherited from past underperforming models in the management hierarchy.
The easiest? I don’t know, as I never had a brand new team. Yet, in both cases, it is vital to set in stone standards that are clearly stated and as rigid as necessary to deliver the quality outputs the business needs. In both cases it is vital that the incoming manager is able to be the best example possible.
Then sticking firmly to the path, with consistency, fairness as well as building trusting relationships is the only way to success. There will be ups and downs, with failures and omissions, but this will guide you through successfully in the end.
With such a template, both types of team will work well and deliver outstanding results.

It used to be only the wealthy took crusies. There you were, relegated to miserly quarters in steerage, or set on top of the world in palacial state rooms of pure luxury. Think of the class structure in the movie ‘Titanic’.That’s changed (somewhat) in the new age of fierce competition for cruise dollars. But there are very important ways my fellow Paupers use to dramatically lower their costs and to upgrade their accomodations on oceanic cruises.
NEWSLETTERS
How about an upgrade? Better cabins, discounted certificates, 10-40% savings off advertised prices all offered by your cruise line through their respective newsletters.
I recommend you subscribe to the online newsletter from several cruise lines to get these bargain offers. They sometimes announce fantastic ’sweepstakes’ for free cruises, too. You can always unsubscribe at anytime.
EARLY BIRDS
The early bird still gets the cruise, just like with the airlines. If you’re good at long-range planning you can save mucho dinero. The earlier you book your cruise the more you save. Typically 10-40%. It’s funny, but on the converse side, last minute deals can also set you free to save much money. So, be early or really, really late and save.
CONNECTIONS
If you belong to an association, organization, if you have a wedding party, family reunion, belong to a church group or are planning a corporate outing you can get hefty group discounts. As always, don’t be afraid to ask! Here’s the idea: let’s say you and you significant other are planning a cruise to the Bahamas. Why not post your plans in the company, church or association newsletter or bullitin board, inviting others to join you. You’d be surprised how much of a discount you can arrange by inviting others along.
STAND BY!
Yes, it happens with cruise ships, too. Typically you’re notified three weeks prior to departure if there is space. Late notice like this means you get a nice discount fare.If you employ this strategy, it helps to be on a floating vacation schedule with your employer. If you’re self-employed, you’d be a fool not to use this trick. The more flexible your schedule the more money you save.
BONUS: Paupers Secret Confessions #14
The four ideas above are standard issue tricks of the trade. They work very well for booking a cruise. But what about an idea to save money once you’re already on board? Here is one you may not have considered before. One of the biggest expenses on a cruise ship are those delicious cocktails!Who doesn’t like to embibe a sparkling beverage of choice while soaking in the sun on deck? Buy liqour onshore or at the cruise line liquor store. Drink in your room or poolside. Get a steward to bring ice and mixers. Our Pauper hates to spend $10. for a glass of wine. If you add up the price of a drink or two for two people over a 7-day cruise—ouch!

When you are just starting out playing cricket it is not always straightforward to know what you need to acquire. If you go into a sportswear equipment retail shop & ask them what you require, you will probably end up getting a large amount of kit that you don’t need. Hence, it’s best to fathom what you may require prior to you going shopping. That way you are very much more likely to find what you need, instead of what the shop owner suggests you need.
Below, is essentially a meticulous cricket equipment list, you do not have to get all the items on this list, as many clubs will lend you equipment in particular at junior level:
Cricket whites, cricket bats, balls, helmets, gloves, batting (wicket keeping) inner gloves, wicket keeping gloves, batting pads, wicket keeping pads, box, chest pad, arm guard, inner thigh pad, cricket boots (bowling boots; batting boots), box (groin guard), stumps and bails.
For most cricket meetings you play a part in you will need to have your very own set of whites. Cricket whites contain white cricket trousers & cricket shirt. It is therefore important that you get hold of a good set of cricket trousers and also a nice white cricket shirt & jumper as it can rapidly turn cold if you are standing out on the field for a substantial long time especially if you are playing in England (the start and end of the season are the coldest).
If you can not rent gear from your club the other most important items of equipment are a cricket bat & box. A good cricket bat is critical if you intend to score heaps of runs and is a very individual piece of cricket equipment, so spend a few hours choosing your bat, if at all possible you should go to a sports store and test drive one before you buy so you know how it feels to hit with. When you know what you want you can often purchase bats online much cheaper). You need a good box to defend your groin from the ball, as getting hit down below’ is particularly painful, so investing in a good box before you start is a must - you can’t play cricket without one. Find a wide selection of cricket items today at Sportswear-Equipment.com.

Being human is not an easy task, we tend to say these days, but I think it has been that way since day 1 of mankind.
But being FEMALE, now that’s a challenge and a half. I have never been a guy, but from what I see and don`t get me wrong guys, I know that you have your hands full trying to co-habitate with us females.
Seriously though lets look at men from my side of the fence..
MENS WORRIES!!
-they fear rejection from women.
-they worry about their ability to perform and satisfy women (if they are gentlemen)
-they worry about putting food on the table.
-they worry about women not being attracted to them(younger women in some cases)
-they worry they may not survive the women’s next menstrual-cycle
-hmmmmmmmmmmm
-they might worry about prostate and colon-cancer(if they are smart)
-they worry about their children, if they have any
-they worry about success
Fair enough…now…FEMALE WORRIES!!
-we worry that we are not pretty enough
-we worry we are not thin enough
-we worry we are not sexy enough
-we worry we will not keep them interested in us
-we worry that they will find younger women more of a lift to their egos
-we worry that we confuse them too much
-we worry about success
-we worry about our children, if we have any
-we worry that we will have to depend on men for financial support
-we worry men will not respect us for our intelligence
-we worry about our menstrual cycles(totally out-of-our-mind-days of the month)
-we worry about losing our youthful bodies (the ones that men seem to totally get whiplash around)
-we worry that no matter how much time and effort we put into keeping ourselves looking good, the men will not notice (wallflower syndrome)
-we worry about keeping it altogether(job, house, kids, and satisfying hubby )
-we worry about the ever dreaded menopause(eeeek)
So that’s pretty much most of the human worries that are first to pop into my mind, whether they be yours or not, sorry, this is my article.
Now I know that not all females and males fall into most of these worries. But I think I am speaking for the norm of worries.
Also women tend to be victims of society a hell of a lot more than men, after-all is it not a “mans world”?…. Do we see half naked men all over the television?….NOT. Women have a lot more to prove these days than men also.
Men say, “its not a COMPETITION” , uhg! I have heard that so many times that I want to gag at times on that answer. Then why are we made to feel like we are in a competition? Why are there so many women with low-self-esteem? Why are there so many women with jealousy issues? Why is the cosmetic-surgery market booming? Why are there radio commercials selling cosmetic-surgery like its candy? Why is it that women can see a good looking guy and not get whiplash or have to wipe drool off their chins?
Many of the women I have listened to or read their thoughts all ask these same questions. These are not just a select few, these are many, many women from all over the world. Guys, trust me here, I am only looking for answers, I am not bashing at all.
Some females do not care about any of this stuff, never have a care or worry in the world, ever wonder why. Maybe they are so into themselves, that’s all they care about. I think if you are that detached from whats going on in the world around you that you definitely are on your own planet. Maybe that’s how we all should be, but hmmm, how would the world be with no one caring about what others think or feel?
There are so many different people in the world and I am sure some fit nothing I have said here, remember people this is just my brain trauma here, so take it with a smile and a chuckle. I am merely giving you something to think about.
I do shout out to the world though for us women that really, really care about what men think . We are working overtime to please , so wake up guys and take notice.

Lindon, Utah- For the fourth consecutive year, a Utah-based candle company has focused its efforts on raising awareness of breast cancer to help women learn more about the disease and how they can prevent it.
This year For Every Body donated 1,500 breast cancer candles to hospitals in Utah at the beginning of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each woman who receives a mammogram throughout the month will receive a free candle. Each of the pink, nine ounce candles is accompanied by a postcard with facts about breast cancer.
The plumeria scented candle is called “Hope for a Cure.” It was created in 1999 to support the crusade against breast cancer. It is sold in several different retail locations throughout the United States. A portion of all proceeds go toward breast cancer research.
According to Becky Lunceford, owner and founder of For Every Body, breast cancer awareness is something all women should be more informed about.
“I have been touched by the stories I’ve heard from some of our employees who had someone in their families who have suffered from breast cancer,” Lunceford said. “I feel very strongly about creating better awareness in our community and nationwide on how to detect breast cancer early.”
According to the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organization, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in the United States and every woman is at risk. If the cancer is detected early, it can be treated. Mammography screening cannot prevent or cure breast cancer, but it may discover breast cancer before the symptoms occur.
“Hope for a Cure” candles can also be purchased at any of For Every Body’s Utah locations or at www.foreverybody.com.
For Every Body is a bath and body and candle manufacturer established in 1995 by Becky Lunceford. It began in her kitchen and has grown into one of the largest privately held candle manufacturers in the country. They are in twelve nationwide show rooms and have more than 120 national sales representatives. For Every Body also employs about 200 people and still runs three retail stores in Lindon, Orem and Draper, Utah.

Can you believe the ultra small new thin Apple iPods? These are very cool personal technology gadgets indeed. Now these tiny thin devices have complete Video Capabilities. Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple announced the creation of a newest additions and improvements to the iPod with a 2.5-inch full color flattest panel display and video-playback capabilities. Are you impressed? Well, you are not alone as the official iPod website has gotten 30 million hits and almost tied the one day hits with Hurricane Katrina.
Ah, but it gets even better as the iPod hosts a 320 X 240 pixel resolution and has bettered all personal tech devices its size. Now even the US Military is hot for iPod video-casting for the troops, yet this off the shelf technology will cost only $299 for a 30 GB or $399 for 60 GB version and well we know that the Military cannot even buy a hammer or toilet seat for that?
Well do you want one yet? I bet you do, but more importantly investors in Apple Stock are betting on it, along with the company. They are talking about selling songs for $ .99 and movies, full length for $1.99 download. One thing for certain is that “Vidcasting” is the next new thing. Think on this
