Cyprus is and island that is well know for many centuries of great traditions, but to most of us simply know it as a great hotspot, which has made it a very popular destination with tourists, with over 2.4 million visiting the island each year. The island receives over 330 days of sunshine a year, which has given it the name The Island of the Sun. There is no shortage of travel companies offering Cyprus holidays and low cost airlines including Monarch offering routes to Paphos and Larnaca, it has never been easier to get there.
While attracting visitors from around the world, most of them tend to be Europeans. Affluent eastern Europeans and Russians have also joined the crowd in recent years. One of the main reasons why there is such a heavy presence of Brits in Cyprus is because of the positioning of the British Armed forces in the southern Greek part of the island. With quick and easy access to the Middle East, this is likely to be the case for some time to come. The impact of this on the surrounding area is that Cypriots have grown used to, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. English is widely spoke and understood among nearly all age groups to driving on the left side of the road. A major attraction for many Brit tourists is that the island offers all of the comforts and familiarities of home, but we also get to bask in the sun.
Much of olden Cyprus is giving away to culture that is more eclectic and less traditional. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. As soon as you leave the packaged paradise and clubbers haven of these areas and hit the road the real country reveals itself.
If your fancy cooling off, and seeing something different take a trip up to the Troodos Mountains. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. Kykkos even has its own winery where the monks bottle and sell their wine. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

Parts 1, 2 and 3 of this topic outlined some of the so-called “secrets” of website traffic being offered on-line and what you might expect for your money. If you missed any of these three parts you will still be able to “pick up the thread” of this subject by clicking on the links appearing in the resource box at the end of this, Part 4.
As I stated previously, Parts 3 and 4, were not planned. They just happened as a result of all the mistakes I have made trying to get traffic to my website. Incidentally, these mistakes have had a rather deleterious effect on the balance of my credit card. Hence, my outspoken words on this subject.
If you have been following this series you will know that I am exposing some common “web traffic” frauds. Yes, I am up to calling most of them downright fraud and scam ideas now because I am just plain sick of their lack of information and virtual rubbish content.
In Part 3, I said I would reveal my experiences with the “schemes” which promise (hah!) to deliver a deluge-barrage-feast-battery of traffic to your site by way of banner advertising on “start up pages.” I am referring, of course, to the opening page of your browser when you click on to the internet. In essence it is the default page. You can set it to whatever you want. Just be careful if you set it to a series of banner ads promising you more traffic. Here’s why:
To explain this web-traffic “idea” properly I will create a fictitious name (not too far removed from what they actually call themselves, by the way). Let’s call it “Hit Magnet Extraordinaire” or HME for short.
HME offers to place your banner on a start up page supposedly viewed by “millions” of viewers. They will even do it FREE. Fantastic, you think. Here is how it works. First, “to be fair”, you have to set your own computer browser start up page to HME. When you do this you will be presented with six or eight or ten nice little banner ads.
HME always takes the prime “real estate” on your page right at the top. The HME banner is also very colorful in relation to everybody else’s dull banners appearing below. It is usually three or four times bigger too, so it is very dominant. At this point you get that sneaking feeling that you might have been hijacked.
Other viewers get to see your banner (you do this by filling out description and detail forms). In return, you get to see their banners. Seems fair, doesn’t it?
HME will even start you off with a quantity of FREE credits. Let me explain my understanding of how this works.
Every time you click on another website’s banner and view their webpage for a minimum of thirty or sixty seconds, you earn credits. These credits add to your “credit aggregate.” Every time somebody clicks on your banner you lose credits. Simple enough. It’s a bit like debits and credits on your bank statement, if you want to think of an example.
I have tried some of these exchange programs. Here is what I found:
1 - from day one of your participation, you are always in credit points decline so you must devote precious time every day towards building these points up,
2 - to build credits you continually have to click on other people’s banners even if you have absolutely zero interest in them, just to increase your credits,
3 - because other “traffic” participants are doing the same it just becomes a time consuming exercise in futility for everyone,
4 - often the banners you are basically forced to click on take more than a minute to load and some links do not work at all,
5 - the banners you see on your start-up screen are almost always the same with little or no variation day to day and week to week,
6 - the banner exchange site will not allow you to collect credits for any websites you have viewed in the last 24 hours (you can see the difficulty point 5 represents),
7 - often your computer will jam trying to access links, giving you that dreaded “fatal exception” message,
8 - any traffic you do receive (and believe me - it will be minimal) will be completely unqualified and therefore worthless (reason - see 2 & 3 above).
You may have better luck but I have tried several of these “traffic generators” and despite their magnificent promises, no appreciable increase in traffic eventuated. I have the statistics to prove it. This leads me to my next point.
Statistics are something you simply must keep. I have a journal. Into it I write all the things I try to increase my hits. If you have a spike or a dip in your normal traffic trend you can trace it back to a certain event or events. If you get dips, stop doing the thing that caused it. If you have spikes, do more of the thing that caused it. It’s that easy.
Now, some marketers may deem this little idea of mine so important they will base a whole $19.95 “special report” on it. Hey! - don’t laugh. I have other reports that are equally banal. You can have that tip from me FREE.
I am very disillusioned with the schemes, scams and plans - call them what you like. I prefer to call most of them complete time and energy wasters - not to mention the money waste. If anybody has had any success at all with any of the so-called “traffic magnets,” or “special reports” or “secret reports” or “information guarantees,” I would like to know about it.
Similarly, if you are one of the people behind these techniques and you think I am being blatantly unfair - email me. But don’t just say: “Mr Simpson, you are wrong!” Build your case. Give me clear proof, not rhetoric, that what you are promoting really works like you say it does.
And please, if you take up my offer, use your real email address and your real name. If you come at me with “Abraham Lincoln Continental” using an email like “alias753@hotmail.com, don’t expect me to take you seriously. In fact, you will probably go straight into that “Deleted Items” folder heading for… you guessed it!
Perhaps I should not be so cynical. However, I am tired of spending good money on bad junk. It annoys me that there is so much high-priced junk for sale.
I hope I have been able to offer some useful comments to other website owners. For my part, I might try other schemes. However, they will all have to pass the credibility tests that I have written about in this four part series.
Happy website building and don’t forget - if you approach these things with the wariness they deserve, your credit card will be a lot healthier when you receive your statement.

1. It’s not boring as all get out.
I spent the first 5 and a half years of my education in public schools. There were, of course, times when I enjoyed learning things and talking to my friends. On the flip side, though, there were long stretches of monotony and boredom. And that was just grade school! I can’t even imagine what it would have gotten like in middle and high school. I vaguely remember a class I took in 6th grade before I began to be homeschooled. “Conflict resolution” they called it. It was an entire class we had to sit through for 50 minutes a day on how not to get in a fight. Instead of teaching us something useful like math, history or science, we had to sit and learn that getting in a fistfight wasn’t good for anybody.
I think it goes without saying that homeschooling was far more interesting. I was either doing something and learning, or I was enjoying my free time. I never had to sit through extended periods of monotonous lectures or stare at a chalkboard while a teacher catered to the slowest student in the classroom. I was able to learn at my own pace and enjoy it.
2. No one gives you wedgies.
Unless, of course, you have an older sibling and then you might get more wedgies than you can handle. One of the fantastic things about being homeschooled is that there is no awkward social structure that you have to fit yourself into. Unless you live in a very complicated family, there are no bullies, no drug addicts and so forth.
Again, the advantage is more than what you don’t have to deal with, but also in what you do get. Being homeschooled enabled me to develop much stronger relationships with my parents and my siblings, and I did find a variety of friends through our homeschool group and church and so forth. I found that when I got to college I was able to comfortably communicate with everyone from the older students (some who were even grandparents, coming back for their education) to the younger students and even the professors and staff. None of these people ever gave me a wedgy.
3. Odds are your teacher will probably like you.
I didn’t personally ever have issues with a teacher that didn’t seem to like me or treat me well, but I do know that those experiences are out there. The odds increase, I think, as you get into high school that you might run into a teacher that you either don’t like or who doesn’t like you for some reason. I wouldn’t say that it’s anything personal, just sometimes there are personality clashes.
On the other hand, I think you benefit from homeschooling because you’re able to develop a much deeper relationship with your parents. Instead of coming home from school and simply telling them what you did (if you can even remember all the details) you live it with them.

Homebased Network Marketing Mlm has three qualities: control of time and money, continual salary, and steady growth which multiplies. By trying to control your time, you can reap from your downline’s efforts.
A downline is a group of people you recruit to sell your product, and you get a percentage of their sales. With residual income from the downline, you can get more free time for yourself. You can be a business owner with less expenses than a brick and mortar business.
If your salary is accrued with the work of many, your earnings will be dependable. If one or two people in your downline have to quit for whatever reason, you can still earn the money from others. By controlling your time and managing your downline, you can get more time and money for yourself through homebased network marketing mlm.
Of course you get a continual salary because of your downline from the home based network marketing mlm like royalties for artists. After your working in grooming the recruits is done, you’ll still be getting money. Residual income is like interest drawn on a bank account; you don’t have to do anything for it. You will get income as the business grows, and your commissions from recruits multiply. There’s a geometric growth because your money is constantly accruing.
The market is right for homebased network marketing mlm because people such as the baby boomers are reaching their peak earning time. Double income and single parent families have less time and use MLM services that save time such as on the Internet.
Technology has improved customer service, and relationships with MLM workers and commissions can be utilized in ways not possible before. All of this started in the 1950’s with nutritional supplements, household products, and cosmetics. MLM boomed in the 1980’s with insurance and long-distance telephone services. As the twenty-first century approached, improvements in technology helped the MLM industry.
The industry expanded into credit cards, travel, and pre-paid legal services. MLM can adapt as technology evolves. The combination of technology and old-fashioned salesmanship makes MLM popular for everyone including those in the business world. You can earn money from the downline of your recruits’ sales and their recruits’ sales and so on.
There’s no overhead if you work at home, and advertising can be based on word of mouth. There’s also no inventory, no collections, and no receivables. Because of convenience of MLM, it has spread to other countries such as Japan and Poland. You don’t have to see the customer, and the product is shipped to him. MLM has acquired a bad reputation through media reports, but many companies including mainstream ones do it legally and successfully.

This is the question that many people ask themselves over and over again. The answer is always the same - NO. No, they will not change: No, things will not get better. This is not said to be mean; it’s just the reality. At the start of a relationship, most people are looking for someone they can spend their lives with so being picky is not necessarily a bad thing. The problems actually arise when people are not picky enough.
When searching for a mate, people will often find themselves settling for someone they do not really want. Sure, the person might look great on the outside, but is that enough to sustain a lifetime? You have to be with someone you genuinely like. Physical attraction is also important, but the truth is, sexual habits tend to change after marriage. That brings me to the main point.
Sex might change, but it’s about the only thing that does. Women in particular are often guilty of falling for a man, loving him, telling him how wonderful he is, but deep down hoping that he’ll change. I don’t mean little things like him leaving the toilet seat up (though that can be a hard habit to break). I’m talking about the big issues. One of the best (and I’m sorry to say most common) examples I can give is alcoholism. A woman falls in love with an alcoholic, goes out with him, parties with him, but suddenly expects it to stop after marriage. I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but that is not how it works. Problems like that don’t go away after marriage. The truth is that they often get worse.
The fault in all this, however, does not lie with the person being asked to change. Whatever bad habits he/she might have, the problems were always there. The person had them from the beginning, so why should he/she be forced to change? The answer is simple-he/she shouldn’t. People do not come with guarantee stickers or warranties. When you marry someone, it’s an AS IS transaction.
There are always going to be problems in every marriage. Nobody is perfect: Keep this in mind when you are evaluating your relationship. Perfection (or the closest thing to it) comes with much time in a marriage. And it’s not a matter of either person changing; it’s a matter of getting used to the things about each other that bug you. And that’s not to say that these things won’t still bug you twenty five years down the road, but they won’t seem as important then.
In a nutshell, if your relationship or your partner has problems that you don’t think you can live with, get out now. Marriage is hard enough without bringing unrealistic expectations into it (not to mention the disappointment and resentment that can occur when those expectations aren’t met). People don’t change just because they say I do and their partners shouldn’t expect them to. Marriage is about living with and loving the person you are with, not the person you hope they will become. If you are waiting for someone else to show up, then do that. and let the person you are with go.

Have you ever attended a class where the instructor followed the Socratic method of teaching? You remember, only questions, no direct answers. Some discussions lend themselves best to that format, and this look at some possible future trends in Internet marketing is one of them. Mainly because there are no answers at this point, only the questions we pose!
Internet marketers by and large are used to creating products for, and selling to, a predominantly western audience. Whether inside the marketing niche or not, today’s web sites, autoresponder sequences, mailing lists, payment processing systems, and overall way of doing business have evolved around the needs and wants of target markets in the western world. And any experienced marketer knows it can be difficult. Despite popular notions that you can start an Internet business and watch the money roll in, the reality is that there is a lot of competition from other webmasters, regardless of the market or type of products you promote.
Looking ahead, have you considered the impact of even more competition - lots more? In Asia, in particular China and India, large, well-educated populations, a lower cost of living with much-improved standards, and more widely available Internet access may combine in the near future to create a lot more Internet marketers. Many are well-versed in technical aspects of the Internet, including programming and site development. In fact, if you’ve ever used any of the various freelance sites to outsource technical projects, you’ve seen that many of the bidders are from Asia.
With populations of one billion people and more in those two countries alone, the current generation is certainly well-attuned to the Internet, and being avid surfers, are no doubt aware of the commercial opportunities and worldwide reach available only on the net. It’s likely only a matter of time before they begin marketing to western audiences themselves.
Whether through affiliate marketing, or by developing new products to sell on their own behalf, the prospect of increased competition for current Internet marketers is very real, and likely very near. The biggest hurdles will be language and market understanding. After all, it’s difficult enough to write effective sales letters in ones native language, even if addressed to a market and culture you understand. Over time, even those barriers will fall - face it, just as programming can be outsourced, so can marketing and language assistance.
The potential competition can sound ominous. And depending on your outlook, it can be. For every new product that pays affiliate commissions, there soon could be lots more marketers trying to promote it to the same audience. And for every new product of your own you develop, similar products with more features and selling for a lower price could appear. That already happens now to an extent. What will it be like with even more marketers and developers competing?
But change can also be good news. You as an individual marketer can either complain about the unfairness of it all, or you can choose to adapt your business to the inevitable and prosper. As new marketers, and surfers in general, from China, India, and elsewhere come online, they will also create entirely new markets to sell to, markets that weren’t there just a short time ago. After all, as marketers they will need the same types of products and services that western marketers need. And as surfers and eventual online buyers, their consumers will want not only western, but also regional and cultural goods, just as online shoppers in the western world do now. Of course, marketers in those regions will also compete in their local markets, as well as western ones.
The globalization of Internet marketing will continue rapidly, no doubt about it. To stay in the game, western marketers would be well-advised to begin their strategic planning for this trend now. New markets and new opportunities are forming - learn to spot them at a distance through global binoculars!

Are you able to remember the time when laptops for gaming were not so accessible? Obviously for the retailers they were highly money spinning regardless of them not selling in significant volumes. I’m pretty certain everyone would have liked to have owned one however couldn’t really justify it. Plainly being so high tech they were the best laptops in relation to speed. I would get seriously excited by them however I knew I couldn’t go out and buy laptops at the price points they were going for. Sales will increase though now that well known companies are coming into the market.
In my point of view they would get off by retailing them at an increased price if they wanted. With laptop computers becoming like other household electronics this is an excellent profit channel for them. They can also use their enormous marketing budgets to induce buyers further into spending their money or bringing out the charge cards to buy laptops like these ones. I have no clue what this will do to smaller resellers however it will have a detrimental effect on them. In my view the tier 1 brands will dictate the market trends. Consumers just feel a lot more confident making a giant purchase from a brand name.
I think its unfair that because it comes with the brand name they are seamlessly considered the best laptops. This should give a bit of encouragement to the smaller businesses. Being able to buy specifically what components they desire is a huge advantage for many potential customers who are thinking of buying a gaming laptop. I believe the guys that buy laptops for gaming normally know what they are looking for. For customers of this type, how well it performs typically is of greater significance than what it looks like. As a possible purchaser myself this is really all a positive thing for me. In the end, the prices will be lowered even greater causing premium technology to be a choice that we can buy. Who is to predict what will take place. I’m really not sure anymore. New gadgets are continuously being released and that should hold prices constantly high. More competition normally brings us better technology at lower prices so the times ahead will be good.

Today, Norm Goldman, Editor of Sketchandtravel and Bookpleasures welcomes as a guest, Francisca Matteoli.
Francisca has written several books pertaining to hotels around the world:
*Hotel Stories: Legendary Hideaways Of The World:
*Adventure Guide Hotel Stories:
*Island Hotel Stories:
After living in Brazil, Francisca now makes her home in Paris. In addition to her books, she has also contributed articles to National Geographic France, Condé Nast Traveller, Air France Hommes and The Tribune of San Luis Obispo.
Bonjour Francisca and thank you for agreeing to participate in our interview.
Bonjour vous, Norm ! C’est un plaisir.
Norm:
Francisca, could you tell us a little about yourself, and when did you passion for travel begin? What keeps you going?
Francisca:
I suppose it all started when I left Chile for France on board Le Pasteur. I was very young but I remember it well. It was quite an adventure ! Such an adventure in fact, that I start my last book Adventure Hotel Stories with this incredible story. Besides, my mother who is Scottish, and my father, who is Chilean, used to travel a lot and tell me fabulous stories. I always wanted to travel like them.
Norm:
Why did you choose to write about hotels?
Francisca:
As my life in France began at the Hotel du Louvre in Paris, in front of the Comedie Francaise, it was natural for me to write about hotels. It was my destiny !
Norm:
Could you recommend to our readers six of the most romantic and unique hotels in the world, and why do you consider them to be so unique and romantic?
Francisca: Well!
**The Soneva Fushi Resort in the Maldives. For the sun, the white beaches, the fabulous food and divine sunsets.
**Le Hameau Albert 1er in Chamonix-France. Part of the famous Relais & Chteau chain. It’s lovely to spend the day outside, walking or skiing, and to enjoy finally a warm wood fire and a good glass of wine. And here, the wine and everything else is perfect ! They have 20 000 bottles in their cellar !
**The Dorchester-London. A must in London. British style and elegance all the way.
**The Mission Ranch, Carmel. I love the cosy atmosphere, the soup of the day !, the unpretentious style and the charming town of Carmel. It’s reminds me of Chile.
**Hotel Janelas Verdes-Lisbon. A literary haunt. A well-kept secret. I felt in love with the place the first time I climbed the stone steps hidden among the plants and flowers.
Norm:
What does travel mean to you?
Francisca:
Freedom, curiosity, open mind, adaptability and& Everything can happen !
Norm:
How much time do you travel each year? How do you go about choosing the hotels you wish to write about? What challenges and obstacles have you encountered while covering these hotels?
Francisca:
I travel more or less 4 or 5 months each year, then I write my stories, prepare my books, work on other projects.
I choose places that I really want to see before I die ! It can be in France or in the Amazon. And the Amazon means trouble, believe me- but that’s also part of the fun!
Norm:
Which country and city have you enjoyed the most and why?
Francisca:
Lately, I was home in Patagonia, and it was great to ride horse like mad in a wild landscape. I was stunned by the harmony between men and nature.
Norm:
How do you come up with ideas for what you write? What methods do you use to flesh out your idea to determine if it’s salable?
Francisca:
I always think : What do I want to see ? Who do I want to meet? People are very important to me. They are the soul of a country or place. I also like to mix past and present. The salad has to be interesting, human and fun.
Norm:
How have you used the Internet to boost your writing career?
Francisca:
I have my own a web site: http://www.franciscamatteoli.com.
I think the Internet is great. It saves time. It’s totaly international. People all over the world have access to internet.
Norm:
Is there anything you wish to add that we have not covered?
Francisca:
What about : how you get your hair done in the jungle ? In another interview maybe?
That would be great Francisca bientt et merci pour votre participation.
Bon chance with all of your future endeavours.
